Idris Elba (born September 6, 1972, London, England) is a British actor who is perhaps best known for his work on the television series The Wire and Luther. Elba also found success in film, appearing in the thriller 28 Weeks Later (2007), the Marvel franchise Thor, and the biopic Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom (2013).
