Neil deGrasse Tyson (born October 5, 1958) is a prominent American astrophysicist, author, and science communicator who has directed the Hayden Planetarium since 1996. Raised in New York City, he earned degrees from Harvard University (BA, Physics) and Columbia University (PhD, Astrophysics). Known for hosting StarTalk Radio and TV series like Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, he has also served on U.S. aerospace advisory boards.
