Lord Alan Sugar (born March 24, 1947) is a British business magnate, author, and television personality who founded the consumer electronics company Amstrad in 1968. Rising from a working-class upbringing in East London, he built a fortune through innovative electronics, later becoming chairman of Tottenham Hotspur and starring as the host of BBC’s The Apprentice. He was knighted in 2000 and appointed to the House of Lords in 2009.
